Slow Fishing Today

Fished all morning without a bite. Ate lunch and tried a new spot on the river. Caught 2 rainbows right off then nothing else. It was nice to be out again.

Rod Building

So far this fall I have built 2 new switch rods. An 8 and 6wt. The 8 was a kit and the 6 was one that I put the parts together myself. The fun thing about the 6wt was making the handle myself out of cork rings. Both rods cast great and are a lot of fun to fish with. If you haven't tried a switch yet, you don't know what you're missing. I now fish waters I never thought I could ever reach.

Atlantic Salmon Fishing in Quebec

My son and I and a friend made a trip last summer to fish the Matane River in Quebec. Unfortunetly the weather was hot and the water was low so the salmon were not in the biting mood. We did see plenty of big fish which made our blood boil. Tim our friend did manage one nice one on a dry fly.
What beautiful country. Hope to get back there next summer.

Been Awhile

Well it's been a long time since I posted and now I'm trying the Blogger app on my iPad to see if I like it.
I've done a lot of fishing since last post. The most exciting was my trip to Bermuda and bone fishing. Hired a guide one day who showed me the ropes but couldn't manage a bone on the fly. Did catch a hogfish on crabs. So the next day went out on my own on a beach early in the morning. Had great luck. Caught my first bone. It was about 30 inches and took me well into my backing 3 times. What a blast and a memory I'll have for a life time. Can't wait for another chance to go after bones!!!
