My First of 2012
Thursday afternoon saw beautiful weather here in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. So after work I headed to a local river to try to get my first trout on a fly for the 2012 season. Water was a little high so put on three different flies and weight to get them down. A soft hackle, hares ear and a olive feedinator. After about 4 casts the first rainbow was on the feedinator. A real nice fish. Fought him a few minutes while he made three leaps then off he came. After losing the olive feedinator to the trees I tied on a red one. Wasn't too long when I got another hit. This time I took my time and finally got him into the net. Another real beauty. Made my net look tiny. First fish of 2012, a 19 inch rainbow.

Wow, Dave! What a nice rainbow catch! Hehe! Rainbow trout are also called as redband trout because of its coloring patterns. Generally, they are blue-green or yellow green in color with its reddish streak along their sides. They prefer to live in cold water such as rivers and streams.
